Legislative Affairs: Priority Issues

Today, Maine Farm Bureau is attending a work session on LD 1586 - An Act to Amend the Definition of Farmers Markets. Maine Farm Bureau opposes this bill as written because, for example, it would allow crafters selling store bought yarn product to compete with farmers who have grown the animals to shear the fiber and process it to sell at the farmers' market. It is important Farmers Markets be FOR farmers and not crafters.
