We work to establish media contacts around the state to get the farmer’s story out to the public. The American Farm Bureau provides media venues such as audio and video productions, printed communications, news releases and brochures and internet efforts to provide updates on Farm Bureau activities and issues. Ag Day in the Legislature Update

Thank you to all who made Ag Day in the Legislature on Wednesday, March 27th, a great day!  Exhibitors from state-wide commodity groups showcased colorful, informative displays with Maine treats and samples of the vast variety of products grown in Maine.

Legislators and visitors enjoyed going from booth to booth -  chatting, learning, and enjoying samples ranging from apples and cider, dairy products, mussels, maple candies, strawberries, blueberries, Christmas tree seedlings, and much more!

The Maine Farm Bureau table passed out many fact sheets, brochures, horse directories, newsletters, and bumper stickers.  Thank you to Crane Farm in Exeter for donating Lays potato chips (Maine grown potatoes!) to pass out; to Bob Hammond and his family for bringing mini blueberry muffins (made with Downeast Maine blueberries) and to Pam Harnden for making fresh pumpkin bread (another crop that thrives in Maine) and for her time helping to staff the table, along with Teresa Hardy.

We had 8 children sign up to be pages this year – 4 in the House of Representatives and 4 in the Senate.  Thank you to Alex and Erik Taylor Lash of Orland; Mary Hammond of Harrington; Allison Merriam of Windham; Megan Caruso of Gorham; Cole Hussey of Biddeford; and Roy and Everett Varney of Turner for taking the day to represent Maine Farm Bureau families in the Legislature!  We hope you enjoyed learning a little about how the legislative process works.
