Maine Farm Bureau Members were well Represented at the New England Holstein Convention Sale.

Augusta, Maine, November 14, 2007 – This year’s New England Holstein Convention Sale was held October 26th at Juniper Farm in Gray, Maine.  The unofficial average of sales was $4,470.  Farm Bureau members, Betsy and Bill Bullard of Brigeen Farms of Turner, Maine had a top seller.  They sold the “first choice female” from an EX-95 cow.  Mike Maloney of Malone, NY spent $30,000 for the option to choose one of four cows bred from Rhonda.  The second highest sale was Mike Liberty of Juniper Farm in Gray, Maine had the final bid of $27,000 for a female “O-BEE Manfred Justice ET” bred from 8 generations of VG or EX dams from Kay-Bee Holsteins in Gorham, Maine.

 

This successful event was managed by The Cattle Exchange of Delhi, New York.  Staff of the event included Dave Rama, Brian Craswell, Tim Abbott, Rick Verbeek, Corey Wolff, Ray LeBlanc, Rob Morrill, Duane Conant, Jay Roebuck and Richard Whittaker.  Other Farm Bureau members that attended included Knox-Lincoln Director Lincoln Hawes; Androscoggin Holsteins; James Davis; Juniper Genetics LLC; Steven Keene; Pineland Farm, Inc.; Silver Maple Farms, Inc.; Stonyvale, Inc.; and Peter Zacharias.
